9 MOVIE CLICHÉS EVERY TEEN GIRL SECRETLY WANTS TO HAPPEN

This post Dedicated to Someone Special.

Now I'm not a cheesy girl. I yell "booooo" and throw popcorn at the screen when cringey things happen in a movie like any other girl.. But is it bad that I can't help but feel like if it happened to me, it would be ok? Like when I'm watching a movie and the guy does something extremely romantic, I secretly wish it was me. It's like I hate that I would love it. But don't you dare tell anybody. Lol...

1. Kissing In The Rain

Hello, The Notebook? Most romantic movie of all time. Sure, the rain would probably be uncomfortable and you'd end up with a cold but hey, at least you got to kiss in the rain.
2. When The Boy Throws Pebbles At Your Window

I know. This is so typical.... So why do we want it to happen to us? I think that if a boy takes time out of his night to go to your house and toss tiny pebbles at your window, then he's a keeper. Am I wrong? It's just that it's SO much more romantic than getting a Snapchat late at night saying "hey what you doing." THROW TINY PEBBLES AT MY WINDOW BOY.
3. When The Boy Holds Speakers Outside Your Window

First encountered in the movie Say Anything, and brought back by Penn Badgley (AKA Dan Humphrey in Gossip Girl) in Easy A. This cliché is totally cringey, but we wouldn't mind if our crush was outside our window holding up speakers. Of course they would have to be blaring Justin Bieber Love Yourself.
4. When The Boy Climbs Up A Tree Onto Your Balcony

Troy and Gabriella in High School Musical, who could forgot? Ok, granted most of us don't have balconies, and most boys wouldn't risk a broken leg for a night-time kiss, it's still a nice thought. (We would build our own balcony if it meant Zac Efron would climb up).
5. Meeting At The Top Of The Empire State Building

Countless movies and TV shows have used this cliché and for good reason. Who wouldn't want to meet the love of their lives, whilst taking in the romantic New York skyline? Sleepless in Seattle, The Mindy Project, and who could forget that episode of Gossip Girl when Chuck and Blair reunite? It's the dream.
6. When The Boy Runs Off The Field Of A Big Game For You

A Cinderella Story comes to mind straight away. Chad Michael Murray runs off the football field when he sees Hilary Duff leave. They kiss in the rain and it's just the best thing ever. We pretend not to be jealous that she gets TWO romantic movie clichés. Also in '17 Again' when Zac Efron runs off of the basketball court to pick up his girlfriend and twirl her around. Again we pretend not to be jealous.
7. A Public Declaration Of Love

This one is tricky. Although I would probably cringe and bury my head in my hands... I still want it. Who doesn't want the boy they like to publicly announce their love? No one! In Love Actually Colin Firth actually learns a different language JUST to pronounce his love for her. In 10 Things I Hate About You Heath Ledger fulfilled every teen’s secret wish in high school; that your crush admits that he loves you in front of the whole school.
8. A Reformed Bad Boy

There's just something about a bad boy isn't there? These movies made you think you could change a bad boy, and you loved it. Again, 10 Things I Hate About you fits in quite well here. (You can't argue with a classic).
9. Time Travel

Ok I'm aware that these are getting a little out of hand, but hear me out! Although very unlikely, we wouldn't mind a bit of time travel in our love lives. Who didn't wish they were Jennifer Garner when she was 13 Going On 30? She left behind her awkward teenage years and became a cool 30-something year old in New York City. And again, we mention 17 Again. (Can you really mention Zac Efron too many times? We think not).

CONFUSING TEXTS GUYS SEND AND HOW GIRLS SHOULD RESPOND MOSTLY

Since texting was invented, women everywhere have spent countless hours pouring over their phones with their girlfriends, attempting to decode, and analyze the confusing and frustrating text messages they’ve received from guys. No matter how many texts you’ve worked your way through, there will always be those messages that make you pause and exclaim, “What does he even mean by that?!” Lucky for you, we recruited those who know best to weigh in on the issue. With the help of some awesome relationship experts, we're here to decode some of the most common types of confusing text messages...

1. The Noncommittal Text

“I might be going.”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
“I’ll let you know.”

Is he simply indecisive, or does he have you on the back burner?
What it means:

When a guy is evasive about what he’s doing later on, it usually isn’t because he has so many plans and just can’t decide—it’s you he can’t make his mind up about. According to Patrick Wanis, a human behaviour and relationship expert, “Often when someone hasn’t made up their mind, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re noncommittal; it really could imply something worse, such as, ‘I’m waiting for the bigger, better offer.’”
How to respond:

Why not try and make the non-committer commit? Try: “Let me know when you figure it out!” or even ask, “What else do you have going on tonight?” Assertive yes, but it’s the best way to coax a direct answer from the evasive texter. And if he still doesn’t give you a specific answer, don’t waste your time on him.

2. The Rain Check Text

“Sorry, can’t tonight.”
“Too much work to do.”
“Maybe next week?”

How much work could he possibly have? And if he were sincerely interested in you, would he really let it get in the way of seeing you?
What it means:

He really could have too much work to do, or he really could be out of town visiting his grandparents, or he really might be way too tired after work to see a movie. If we’ve learned anything about men, it’s that when a guy wants to see you, he will go well out of his way to ensure that it happens. So while not all hope is lost when a guy can’t keep a date, this type of message should make you wary.
How to respond:

According to Wanis, “The best way to respond to this is to say, ‘Okay, I’m available Wednesday or Thursday, which day [works for you]?’ What you’re doing is responding in a masculine manner by being direct and clear, and you’re now giving him an option.” If your guy is interested, he’ll willingly agree to make alternative plans and, this time, he’ll (hopefully) keep them.

3. The Flake-Out Text

“Sorry I missed your text!”

You texted. He didn’t reply. But now he’s apologizing for it. Is it sincere, or was his oversight intentional?
What it means:

With all the emails and texts and tweets and wall posts we’re flooded with on a daily basis, there is a chance your text escaped his notice. But if seeing your name on his phone doesn’t immediately grab his attention, chances are he doesn’t regard you as a top priority.

The fact that he acknowledged his lack of response shows that he does have some courtesy, but only enough to respond when it’s convenient for him. It’s more likely that, instead of truly missing your text, your guy was evading a conversation he didn’t feel like having at the time–or didn’t want to have altogether—and claimed to have “missed” your text as a handy excuse.
How to respond:

Play it cool. If he can’t make your conversation a priority, then make sure he knows that he’s not a priority of yours: “Oh, don’t worry about it. I forgot I even texted you!” Your flippancy might just make your guy step up his game (and pay better attention to his phone).

4. The One-Worded Text

“Cool.”
“Good.”
“K”

What does it mean when a guy has suddenly transformed into an inarticulate caveman?
What it means:

Wanis says there are three reasons a guy might send this type of message: “One, the guy is sincerely busy. Two, he’s stressed out. Three, he doesn’t really care that much.”

Just like with the rain check text message, your guy could be otherwise occupied. But if he were really into you, you’d probably be able to get a little more out of him than “sweet” when you tell him about your day, even if he’s in the middle of aGame of Thrones marathon.
How to respond:

Instead of trying to pull teeth to get your guy to talk, the best way to deal with this message is to take the hint. Wrap up the conversation and try him later when he’s a little less distracted and, with any luck, a little more talkative.

5. The Overly Complimentary Text

“You were definitely the most beautiful girl at the bar tonight.”
“You look unbelievably sexy when you’re working out.”
“That dress makes you look just like Beyoncé––but hotter.”

Beautiful, sexy, hotter than Beyoncé… How could this guy not be infatuated with you? Unless it’s all a bunch of BS from a practiced player. But how can you tell the difference?
What it means:

Whether sincere or not, two things are certain: this guy is very confident, and he’s very interested in you—it’s just a question of whether he’s interested in a relationship with you, or just a quick hook-up. “He could be really hot for you and not afraid to tell you,” says Lieberman. “Or he could just be trying to get you to go to bed with him as quickly as possible, and hopes that flattery will make you believe that he wants a relationship with you, not just a hook-up.”
How to respond:

Don’t let his flattery blind you. Respond with a playful quip, so your guy knows he can’t take you for a ride: “Oh, stop, I’m blushing,” or, “Oh yeah, nothing sexier than a girl sweating her face off on a treadmill.” Put that guy in his place and he’ll know in the future not to set off your BS detector.

6. The Delayed Text

You: [2:14 p.m.] “Hey, what are you up to?”

Him: [8:27 p.m.] “nm, just watching the game.”

You asked him how his week is going and he says that it’s going really well, thanks... five hours later. What’s with the time delay?
What it means:

He could be busy, he could be distracted, he could be at work or in class or on the moon. But more often than not, your guy is playing games. Taking his sweet time to respond to you is your guy’s way of telling you that he has better things to do, and that holding his end of the conversation is not his greatest concern. If your guy is really interested in you, he won’t leave you hanging in the middle of a conversation without an excuse.
How to respond:

It’s tempting to prompt a guy with a “Hello?” or “Are you there?” or the ever desperate “?????” but it’s best not to acknowledge the delay—if he’s not actually busy, that’s what he wants, after all. His not responding to one of your messages is far less humiliating than not responding to eight of them. Try not to play games; two people playing games can make for a conversation that gets absolutely nowhere fast.

7. The Booty-Call Text
[10:45 p.m.]“Yo. What’s up?”
[12:30 a.m.] “You back yet?”
[1:15 a.m.] “Let’s hang.”

Chances are, if any sort of text like this is sent after dark, he doesn’t want to know “what is up,” but rather if you’re “down” to hook up. You deserve better!
What it means:

If you’re looking for a relationship, the booty call guy is not the one to pursue. You probably shouldn’t hold your breath for this guy to take you out on a date.
How to respond:

The best way to express your disinterest in these types of texts? Silence.

8. The Unprompted Sext

“So, about that dress that made you look bangin’ like Beyoncé…”

“[Picture you would never want your parents to see]”

Do we even need to explain this one any further?
What it means:

Whether his sexual come-ons are a reflection of his attraction to you or a reflection of his horniness, your guy wouldn’t be sexting if he wanted a relationship. An interested guy will find another way to express his attraction you––and usually it’s a way that isn’t X-rated.
How to respond:

Just like the booty call, there’s no reason not to reciprocate if you’re not looking for anything serious. But if a relationship is what you want, and you want a boy who’s just as serious about being in one as you are, ignore these texts.

18 THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU TURN 18

Turning 18 is the first major milestone most of us will have to look forward to. When you're a teenager, nothing seems as important, as big as turning 18, once and for all. It's the final frontier between you and adulthood, between being considered a child and being an adult. Despite all the hype, most of the time, things don't really change that much, nonetheless, you may as well squeeze as much into life while you're young. Here are 18 things to do before you turn 18:

1) Go to a festival.
Festivals are playgrounds for young, fun seeking people just like yourself. Pick one that has some of your favourite artists playing at it, save up and go let your hair down because most festivals let over 17's in. Just pick an older friend and some general sense up along the way.
2) Get a part time job and earn some spare cash.
Your parents have no 'duty' to fund your Saturdays in town, your gig tickets or your skinny jean obsession. That much is up to you, or at least, should be up to you. Get yourself a few hours a week in a shop, doing some babysitting or even sell off your unwanted stuff on eBay. Having your own money is the best feeling in the world.
3) Dye your hair a crazy colour.
If not now, when? A few streaks or some dip dying can be more than enough. You're young, have some fun with your hair, it'll fade and grow in no time anyway.
4) And get a piercing, somewhere. Anywhere.

Mix up some ear piercings, get your belly button done or if you're really feeling adventurous, go for a facial one. Just don't expect the 'rents to be too happy. See our guide for inspiration.
5) Discover something you love doing.
Whether it's something as simple as painting nails, reading novels or making cakes, find your niche and get good at it. If you love doing something then it'll never really feel like work, so find out what you love and keep on doing it.
6) And find out who your true friends are.
The sooner the better really. Your gut will be your guide on this one, but if you reckon that they're for keeps, then they probably are, so hold on tight.
Bonfires with best friends are always fun
7) Learn to enjoy your own company.
It's imperative that you're perfectly ok with spending a little time by yourself because if not, you'll end up surrounding yourself with any old people, just to feel content.
8) Try out the whole relationship thing for yourself.
If nothing else, then just to see what all of the fuss is about. Relationships in your teens can often be either 'meh' or extremely overpowering though, so thread carefully.
9) Learn how to cook at least one meal.
So that whenever you happen to be by yourself, you won't end up turning to sugar to survive. Plus, you can win over friends and impress your mother with your culinary skills.
10) Go somewhere you've always to visit with your friends.
And make sure to take loads of pictures so that you will always have a keepsake of that day to look at and smile. Oh, and take more pictures no matter how awful you think you look.
11) Keep some sort of diary/ journal/ photo album.
There's nothing NOTHING better than randomly discovering a book filled with precious, youthful memories. It doesn't matter how much you cringe, how bad you think you look or how stupid you think you sound, in five years time you'll be so happy that you did it.
12) Make more of an effort with your parents.
Sure, there were probably many points throughout your teenage years when you couldn't stand the sight of your parents, but the older you get, the more you see that everything they did, they did it for you. Thank them by making a bigger effort to get on with them.
HEY GUYS!! I probably won't be posting on this account anymore so if you want, go follow my new account which I'll be posting on from now on. The link is in my bio!
13) De-clutter your social media.
Do you really need 900 friends and 200 likes on your new profile picture? Like, really? Ask yourself who you don't want to see in your timeline every day and give them the chop. Today.
14) Get into a proper skincare routine.
Your skin during your teens is at its most turbulent. Your body is raging with a million different hormones and this is naturally going to affect your skin,  remedy that by getting into a steady skincare routine now and sticking to it.
15) Give school your all, if only for one month.
Just to see what your abilities actually are, out of curiosity Then, when the going gets tough, you always know that you can fall back on your exceptional abilities and all will be ok, once again.
16) Aim to meet as many people as you possibly can.
Broaden your horizons, hang out with people you normally never would, meet, greet, befriend and enjoy mixing outside of your regular circles. Don't be a closed book.
17) Learn to stand up for yourself.
You need to learn how to stand up for what you believe in, for yourself, for people you love, because if you can't do that for yourself, then who else will?
18) And most of all, learn to have a little self-loving, not to mention self-respect.
Respect yourself and you won't have to worry about anyone else. Self-confidence, self-respect and self-loving is the key to self-happiness. So get on board with yourself right now!
