Small Ideas to gift your father in this fathers day, to feel make special to him-

Father's Day will be observed on June 19 this year as it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in most parts of the world. If you are already throwing away most gift ideas and turning to the internet for answers, here are some suggestions for gifts that every father might actually love to have.

Getting a greeting card, cufflinks, mugs with World's Best Day quotes, perfumes and clothing are some of the ordinary choices, but if you really wish to give something out of the box, look at the current trend. Technology has become a major part of our daily lives as we constantly rely on smartphones, tablets, internet, smartwatches and other tech gadgets for various purposes and it would only make sense to have these products to make the most of it.

Keeping in mind that not all kids can afford the pricey iPhones, they also wouldn't wish to settle for a plain and simple greeting card (although it's the thought that counts), here are some gift ideas that most of us can afford.

Smartphone

It is not quite often that we see our fathers change their smartphones. But as the tech world advances, it is best to have the latest device. In India, the intense competition among smartphone companies has led to a price war and the need to pack top-of-the-line specs. There are plenty of smartphone choices for shoppers that can easily fit into any budget.

If you are looking for smartphones under Rs. 10,000, there are handsets like Lenovo Vibe K5, Meizu M3 Note and Coolpad Note 3 Lite. Smartphones sub-Rs. 20,000 are pretty cutting edge with premium features. Some of the devices you can get include LeEco Le 2, Lenovo ZUK Z1, Motorola G4 Plus and more. If your budget permits you to go up to Rs. 30,000, there are worthy devices like LeEco Le Max 2, Xiaomi Mi 5 and OnePlus 3, all of which can easily offer the experience of a premium flagship device.

Smartwatch
Wearables are slowly catching grip into the tech world. It would be nice to give your dad a break from the regular Titan or a Rado and replace it with a smartwatch, where he can actually get all the smartphone notifications, track his fitness and stay updated with the latest tech trend.

There are a plenty of choices in the smartwatch segment. Samsung, LG, Huawei and Motorola have a series of smartwatches that look like regular wrist watch but offer all the smart functions. If you are looking at some budget options, there are companies like Wickedleak, Intex, Alcatel and others.

Fitness tracker
It is important to stay fit and healthy and technology is doing its bit to contribute just as much into that area. Although smartwatches these days come with most fitness tracking features, however, fitness trackers are designed just to do that without the distractions of smartphone-related functions. Almost every smartphone manufacturer offers a range of fitness tracking wearables.

Fitness trackers can help your dad keep a track of daily activities, sleep and stay fit and healthy. Companies like FitBit, Misfit, Jawbone are some brands known for their fitness trackers. However, options are not limited in this category. There are affordable options as well from companies such as Xiaomi, Intex, Swipe and Micromax YU. Fitness trackers can be a very thoughtful gift this Father's Day.

Chromecast
Who wouldn't like to stay entertained? With regular cable and dish options, televisions are mostly on a loop with same TV shows or repeated movies. Add more spice to your dad's entertainment life with Chromecast dongles, which will connect a normal HDTV to internet to stream YouTube and cast content from smartphone wirelessly.

Power bank
For the dads who are always on the run and have no time to charge their phones, a powerbank can actually save the day to make that important call home or a text to client. Power banks come in different sizes and capacities. Xiaomi, OnePlus, Sony, Ambrane and many other companies offer a wide range of power banks for as low as Rs. 599 and upwards.

Virtual reality headset
Let them experience the world of virtual reality and see how the technology has grown over the years. You can easily find affordable VR headsets, which let you insert a smartphone to work as a display, online from Amazon India for as low as Rs. 200. But if you are looking at better quality VR headset, it may cost you around Rs. 1,000.

Recliner sofa/chairs
Nothing adds up to good comfort while watching TV or reading morning newspaper while sipping tea. Recliner sofas are extremely comfortable and can certainly make your dad happy. They will come in great use on a daily basis and you can never go wrong with this gift choice.

Recliners are usually priced higher than the regular sofas, mainly because of their mechanical functions. Urban Ladder has a variety of recliner sofa sets and single chairs starting from Rs. 12,999. If your dad is a fan of F.R.I.E.N.D.S TV series, Tribbiani Recliner can be a well-thought gift, which costs Rs. 16,999.

No matter what gift you purchase for your dad, make sure you add a personal touch to make it special. It could be in the form of a hand-written letter showing how much love him or a gesture to compliment his support through your ups and downs.

Apple Watch Gets a Big Price Cut in India

Apple has slashed the retail price of the Apple Watch in India by Rs. 5,000. With the price slash, the cheapest variant - Apple Watch Sport (38mm) - is now available in the country at a price point of Rs. 25,900.

At a media conference in San Francisco earlier this week, Apple announced that it is making the Apple Watch less expensive to purchase. The company announced a $50 cut on the Sports model of the Apple Watch. In line with the announcement, Apple India told Gadgets 360 on Wednesday that it has knocked off Rs. 5,000 from the aforementioned model. The wearable comes in Sport, Watch, and Watch Edition variants. Do note that other variants of the Apple Watch aren't getting a price cut just yet.

Apple India told us that the price cut should be effective across retailers, though Gadgets 360 understands that it will take a few days before different retailers across the country start selling the Sports model at the revised price.

Apple launched the Apple Watch in India in November last year, with the Sport (38mm) variant costing Rs. 30,900, and the Sport (42mm) variant costing Rs. 35,900 At the event, the company also slashed the price of the iPad Air 2 by $100. The price revision, however, isn't currently live in India, Apple India told us.

(Also see: Apple Watch Review)

The price revision makes the Apple Watch, the company's first wearable device even more enticing. For a first generation device, the Apple Watch feels very polished. Apple made its timepiece even more powerful with the watchOS 2 software update, bringing support for native apps, activation lock, and a number of other features and improvements. On Monday, alongside the iPhone SE launch, Apple also released watchOS 2.2, which brought features like the ability to pair multiple Apple Watches to a singleiPhone, the Nearby feature, an improved glance feature, as well as several performance improvements and bug fixes .

If you were on the fence on whether or not you should spring for the Apple Watch, at least the most basic variant, and the price seemed a tad too much, Apple is now giving you a better option.

Loon Project: Indian government asks Google to choose telco partner

NEW DELHI: Government has asked Google to select a telecom operator as partner for testing the balloon-based Internet technology, Loon Project, in the country.

"Google wants to test the Loon Project in expensive and scarce spectrum bands. It has been asked to partner with any telecom operator that can meet its requirement and then approach the government for testing Loon," an official source told PTI.

The official said that if Google wishes to conduct a test with BSNL, it can carry out the experiment in the spectrum held by the state-owned company.

"This approach should resolve the spectrum band sought by Google as well as security, to some extent," the official added.

An e-mail sent to Google went unanswered.

In India, Google has approached the government to set up the Loon project that has the potential to replace mobile towers as it can directly transmit signal on 4G mobile phones.

The Telecom Ministry has formed a panel under IT secretary and asked BSNL to look at providing necessary support for the experiment. Meetings in this regard were held in October-November. The project hit a roadblock after Google sought to conduct test in 700 Mhz or 800 Mhz band instead of 2500 Mhz band that BSNL holds.

The 700 Mhz band is the most expensive and efficient spectrum for telecom services and is yet to be allocated to any service provider. Telecom regulator Trai has suggested including this spectrum in upcoming auction at a minimum price of Rs 11,485 crore per Mhz and a company will require to buy a minimum of 5 Mhz.

Google, under its Project Loon, is using big balloons floating at a height of 20 km above the earth surface for transmission of Internet services. It has already tested this technology in New Zealand, California (the US) and Brazil.

As per Google, each balloon can provide connectivity to a ground area of about 40 km in diameter using a wireless communication technology called LTE, or 4G.

Google uses solar panel and wind to power electronic equipment in the balloon throughout the day.

Ringing Bells Freedom 251 || Might Be a Massive Scam; 2 Reasons It Isn’t

Ringing Bells Freedom 251 smartphone was launched in February 2016. The phone comes with a 4.00-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 540 pixels by 960 pixels

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core and it comes with 1GB of RAM. The phone packs 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Ringing Bells Freedom 251 packs a 3.2-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 0.3-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 runs Android 5.1 and is powered by a 1450mAh removable battery.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor.

About Ringing Bells

Established in 2015, Ringing Bells Pvt. Ltd. made a name for itself when it announced the Freedom 251, the most affordable smartphone in the world.

There is an old proverb which rings ‘bell’ everytime I see some unprecedented marketing campaign: “If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is..”

Something similar has happened with Freedom 251, the smartphone which is being offered at earth-shattering price of Rs 251 by a little known company called ‘Ringing Bells’. The bookings started today morning, and as per messages received by the some people, the website received 6 lakh hits a second.

Even the majestic Amazon Cloud couldn’t handle this onslaught of traffic, and the website crashed.

Social media is right now ignited with the news and reports of Freedom 251, as thousands and thousands of tech enthusiast attempted to book a unit of this new disruption in tech world.

We attempt to analyse logically, the truth behind Freedom 251, and try to decode whether its a scam or its a genuine offering from a new hotshot company which is attempting something never tried before?

We will first give them benefit of doubt, and present two reasons which prove that its not a scam:

Two Reasons it is NOT a Scam
a) Political leaders have launched this product
At a glittering event, veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi launched this handset in Delhi. Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar was also expected to attend this event, but he failed to turn up.
b) Ownership Is Clear

The company’s owners are not hiding and have presented themselves to be scrutinized. Here is the Facebook profile of the founder Mohit Goel, who goes by the name ‘CuteMohit’; besides, all the founders of this company have come out in the open in today’s full page ad on TOI and mentioned that the handsets would be delivered in June.
Four Reasons IT IS a Scam
a) The actual product is a shady rebranded ripoff:
Sample unit of Freedom 251 was reviewed by Hindustan Times, and they found that it’s a shady, rebranded ripoff of a smartphone sold by a company named Adcom, which is a Delhi based importer of gadgets and electronic products. And, Marketing Manager of Adcom has said, “We have no idea that our branding is being used on the Freedom 251.. We will look into this.”

Adcom A400, the handset which is being allegedly rebranded (without their permission) was launched 2 years ago. Hence, it can be a possibility that Ringing Bells are now reselling the old stock at lower price.

The most hilarious thing is that, the logo of Adcom is hidden by a whitener. No genuine company selling a smartphone shall do that.. Never!

Interestingly, the handset which has been rebranded is sold for Rs 4000 by Adcom. How will a new company rebrand it and sell the same for Rs 251? A huge red flag for scam alert here.
b) Promises Broken:
As per the specifications mentioned in their website, this smartphone will be pre-loaded with several apps such as Swatch Bharat, Women Safety App, Facebook, Whatsapp and more. But the review unit didn’t had any such app. Besides, the actual handset received by HT is entirely different from the handset which is being shown on their website and the full page ads in newspapers.

Infact, the icons & browser seems a direct copy of iOS icons and Safari browser.
c) Unrealistic/Infeasible Pricing:
Mobile Industry Body Indian Cellular Association (ICA) has written to Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, asking him to look into this matter, as there is no way any company can sell such a handset below Rs 2700, even after considering all discount factors.

ICA President said, “For your kind information, the bill of material (BOM) value for a product like this when sourced from the cheapest supply chain cost approximately USD 40 (Rs 2,700).”

Considering that this handset feature 4-inch display, Qualcomm 1.3-GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM; the individual cost of each component itself will be far more than Rs 251.
d) Not Govt. Approved:
Ringing Bell, the parent company behind the scintillating offer is not listed under Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which means that they are not certified to sell any product in India. This is a major red flag alert, which indicates that it’s a scam. And, there are no address mentioned on their website; the copy which they have written describing the advantages and features are all amateurish, and the Tweets they are sending are unprofessional to say the least.

Only time will tell about the truth, which would be revealed on June 30th, when Ringing Bells will deliver the first batch of their Freedom 251 handsets.

Do share your opinion and feedback on this case.

Many Indian mobile users have two to three mobile numbers, reasons may be many but one could be low call rates or free calls on On-net numbers. I hope you got my point.
But keeping so many SIMs of different mobile operators, you need to know their different USSD codes for checking your desired information. You always try to ask the representative of that particular mobile operator but even then you may not get right codes.
