1. Don't be afraid to make contact first

Why does the guy always have to be the first one to talk? Never be afraid to be the first one to speak to a guy, you don't even need to come across super cool or anything. Literally just come over and say hi; it makes you seem confident and in control, and this is a really attractive quality. Don't worry, we don't bite.

2. Don't be afraid to message

Some people think that when somebody messages first it means that they're clingy - I don't think so. It just means that this person's on your mind. Guys love the idea that you're thinking about them; whether it's a little "hey, how are you doing?" or a deep meaningful conversation, we're usually pretty happy to chat. If we disappear don't freak out either, it just means something came up, we'll probably just resume like nothing happened.

3. Take charge

A lot of the time these days it's left to the guy to go ahead and plan the dates or days out. Sometimes it's more work than you might think, don't be afraid to try plan one yourself. Most of us would just be flattered if you try to plan a day with us. If you do things you know we like then you'll definitely get bonus points.

4. Don't be afraid to say what you want

90% of the time when guys try to get a girl something she likes we're completely unsure whether or not she'll like it. There is nothing worse then going out with a girl who spends nearly the whole time on her phone; it's literally like eating dinner with a brick wall. This can sometimes be very difficult I know. I mean, if a guy is literally just into sports and you just aren't, then it can be hell. We appreciate it, even if you feign an interest in something we like. Sometimes a simple "Hey how did *insert sports team name* get on last night?" will do. It just shows you're as interested in us as we are in you.

7. Spontaneity and a little crazy is a good thing

If you have random ideas that you think would be fun then say them. It could be something as simple as trying out a new restaurant or even going on a little adventure. A little spontaneity and crazy are good. They make you stand out and depending on who you're with, it can help with the kind of relationship you're in.

I’m Single & I Love Valentine’s Day

Okay, so when did the world announce that singles should diss the ultimate day of love and spend shunning it? How long have I been sleeping for? What era am I in? I have questions and I'm not sure if there are answers! Does your relationship status really decide if you should be spending Valentine's Day with a better half? Can't it be with anyone you love? Your best friend, your mother, your sister or yourself! Why does it always have to be about shunning Valentine's Day just because you are single?

I remember how my single friends start making plans of staying in all day, doing nothing, because they don't have a date on D-day. They would sulk about it. Forget the other singles. I love Valentine's Day. I love celebrating the day of love with my special someone(s).

Unlike most of my friends, I don't want to abolish February 14. It's mostly hated by the single community because it reminds them how single they are and how long it has been since they last dated. But seriously people, it is not about candlelight dinners or heart-shaped balloons or unrealistic expectations, it is just about being with someone you love. It can be anyone, absolutely anyone.

If I ruled the world, I would actually ask every one out there to express their love to that one person whom they can't live without or even those who they don't care about. Buy flowers for your boss, who you think hates you, or even your domestic help who just doesn't do anything you ask her to. It's about being compassionate and loving. Ideally, we all should be like this every single day, but it's wonderful to dedicate at least one day to love. 

People in a relationship have fun on this day with their own versions of cheesy messages, gooey stuff and what not. You can do it as well, with your bestie or with a friend who just wants to hang out that day.

I love the feeling of love on Valentine's Day; the feeling of being loved, the feeling of being in love, with myself (for now). So stop hating Valentine's day because it is all about love and not hate.
